Stair flooring installation in Vancouver
Stairs are the hardest-working floor in the house and the first thing guests see. We install hardwood, engineered hardwood, laminate and vinyl plank on stairs across Greater Vancouver, including full carpet-to-wood conversions, with proper treads, risers and nosings so every step is safe, quiet and built to match the floors around it.

Why redo your stairs
Any material
Hardwood, engineered, laminate or vinyl plank stairs, matched to the flooring in the rest of your home.
Carpet to wood conversions
Out with worn, stained carpet; in with a durable wood-look staircase that is easier to clean.
Proper nosings
Purpose-made stair nosings on every edge for grip, durability and a clean finished line.
Safe and quiet
Securely fastened treads and risers that do not creak, shift or catch underfoot.
Our installation process
- 1
Measure and plan
We measure every tread and riser (stairs are rarely identical) and plan the layout, nosings and transitions at the top and bottom.
- 2
Tear-out and prep
Old carpet, staples, tack strips or worn treads come out, and we level and secure the structure underneath.
- 3
Treads, risers and nosings
Each step is cut and fitted individually, glued and fastened so it stays tight and quiet.
- 4
Finish and detail
Trims, caulking and touch-ups for a clean line on every step, then a full cleanup.
Where stair work makes the biggest difference
Carpet-to-wood conversions, staircases that no longer match newly installed flooring, worn or squeaky steps, and rentals or family homes that need a tougher, easier-to-clean surface. We match stair materials and colours to the flooring we install, so the whole level reads as one floor.
What it costs
Stairs are priced per step and depend on the material and what needs to come out first. Most staircases are quoted quickly once we see a photo or visit. Book a free quote for an exact price.

Can you put vinyl plank or laminate on stairs?
Yes. Both work well on stairs when installed with matching stair nosings, which most manufacturers make for their colours. We glue and fasten stair installs rather than floating them, so nothing shifts underfoot.
Can you match my new flooring on the stairs?
Yes, that is the most common request. If we are installing your floors, we use the same product line and matching nosings on the staircase so the colour carries through.
Do you remove old carpet from stairs?
Yes. Carpet, underlay, staples and tack strips all come out as part of the job, and we prep each step before the new material goes on.
What is a stair nosing and do I need one?
The nosing is the rounded front edge of each step. Purpose-made nosings protect the edge, add grip and give a finished look. Building code also requires a consistent edge, so yes, every step gets one.
How long does a staircase take?
A typical single staircase is usually done in a day or two, depending on the number of steps and the tear-out involved. You get a firm timeline in your quote.
